Google Maps Live Transit Updates

Ever been waiting for a bus that seems to take forever to arrive? Wished your fancy smartphone with all of its super powers could tell you when that bus is coming? Well, now you can with Google Maps for mobile and desktop. Google Maps now have live transit updates since they've joined forces with transit agencies to integrate live transit data in four US cities and two European cities.

The four US cities are: Boston, Portland, Ore., San Diego and San Fransisco with the European cities being Madrid and Turin. When you click on a transit station or plan a route with Google Maps and there are current delays or alerts related on your journey, you'll now see "live departure times" which are indicated by a special icon as well as service alerts.

Google are working with public transit partners to help them provide live data to more people in more cities. All you need to do to get live transit updates is the latest version of Google Maps for mobile (Android 1.6+) as well as Google Maps on all supported desktop and mobile browsers.
